May is harvest season in the community. It's the first of the two harvest seasons in the year.

While some are celebrating the harvest, a few people have experienced a poor yield. This means they will be scrounging around trying to make things work, hoping that the next season will be better.

Harvest season affects church attendance. Some adults and many children are drawn to the gardens to harvest groundnuts for a very small payment. Attendance fell from an average of 80 adults down to 50.

It was also holiday time for the learners and teachers. The learners enjoyed three weeks of holiday, while the teachers had two weeks off and returned a week earlier to prepare for the new term.

Sadly, six of our learners could not rejoin us because their parents could not afford the termly requirement of $10. They were also unwilling to pursue the alternative payment options available.

We were able to launch a second home fellowship (community group) and hope to launch a third one soon.

We have continued to evangelize the youth through sports. We now meet every Tuesday to talk through life and pray together.

Our challenges continue to be the absence of electricity, a lack of chairs for church services, and the high demand from parents to have their children admitted to our school—a demand we cannot meet at the moment.

Despite these challenges, the Lord has reminded us to pray. Pray for the workers in the harvest, for the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few (Luke 10:2). Join us as we pray to the Lord of the Harvest to continue to provide workers for His glory in this community.

We are currently very busy and excited as we prepare for our first-year anniversary celebrations since the church launched in this community. This is scheduled for June 29th, 2024. Keep us in your prayers.
